The School of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island has the following opportunities for  sessional instructors  to teach the following courses in the academic year of 2016/17, subject to budgetary approval:

BUS 285 Special Topics: Tourism Project Management

This course looks at the role, creation and management of sustainable events for the tourism and hospitality industry. Lectures, group discussions, guest speakers and case studies will be undertaken. In addition, students will receive hands on practical training through individual assignments and by working on-site at the Jack Frost Children’s WinterFest.

By simulating different event scenarios, students will acquire practical experience that will prepare them for real event situations. Upon completion, students will be able to develop, present and execute a comprehensive event plan.

BUS 604 Operations Management
(Offered every second Friday from March 3 to April 14, 2017)

This course focuses on concepts and techniques for the design, planning, control, and improvement of manufacturing and service processes. These concepts and techniques pertain to a range of applications in the private and public sectors. Topics include quantitative decision making; process mapping flows of labour, material, capital, and value; supply chain coordination; inventory management; risk mitigation; quality management; process design; and revenue management.  Students will complete problem solving and case applications.

Qualifications:
Successful applicants will have a minimum of a master's level degree or equivalent with a combination of qualifications and experience.  

BUS604 is an Executive MBA course and applicants should have a strong combination of qualifications and experience. Minimum educational credentials include a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. In addition, applicants should have advanced expertise in the course topic. Practical experience in the subject area, prior teaching experience, and knowledge and familiarity with “Evidence-based Management” principles will be considered assets.

Also note, priority will be given to qualified individuals on the sessional roster of the academic unit.
