37.5 hours per week

Salary: 
$45,457 - $50,007 per annum, prorated to term as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)
Term: 

As soon as possible until January 31, 2013 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.)

 The Veterinary Teaching Hospital requires an Animal Health Technician to assist veterinarians in the Small Animal Surgery service. This position may involve work in other clinical support areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• assist with admission of patients,
• prepare and recover animals from surgery;
• carry out all ward activities for surgical patients;
• relieve OR staff;
• assist in OR clean-up;
• assist with teaching students OR protocol;
• stock and maintain supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an AHT program from a recognized school (preference to RVT).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Current experience in a surgical environment would be an asset.
It is important that candidates be self-motivated and able to work independently and also function well as part of a team.
