The University Writing Minor is looking for one Student Assistant to work up to 10 hours per week throughout July and August, 2014, to help support the development of a strong system for teaching and administering UPEI’s Writing-Intensive courses. We seek a student with outstanding writing, oral, and leadership skills, and strong interest in writing and writing across the curriculum. Students who have completed or are enrolled in the University Writing Minor is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Student Assistant will work primarily on 4 main task areas:

1. helping to develop flexible but efficient methods for organizing, authorizing, and monitoring UPEI’s cohort of Writing-Intensive courses to ensure currency, accuracy, and credible standards;
2. helping to research and organize materials for Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) professional development;
3. helping to develop campus communication approaches relevant to Writing-Intensive courses and WAC professional development; and
4. contributing a student perspective to writing-intensive development on campus, and helping to develop methods for strong student-to-student communication and events regarding writing-intensive learning. 

• The Student Assistant will work closely with the Coordinator of the University Writing Minor and English 101.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preference will be given to students who have completed English 101, English 381,  University 103, and at least one other writing-intensive course.

Priority to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
