STUDENT LAB ASSISTANT
Hours of Work: 

35 hours per week

Salary: 
$10.74 per hour (vacation pay included) (grant funded)
Term: 

preference would be for May 14, 2012 to August 24, 2012 (15 weeks)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• construction of aquatic insect identification guides
• identification and microphotography of aquatic insect specimens and construction of photographic identification keys.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• at least third year biology, with courses in animal diversity and ecology
• good microscope skills (Preference is for experience in using fine forceps and a dissection microscope, microdissection of tiny invertebrates, and slide mounting small invertebrates; however, a combination of training or experience that demonstrates aptitude for these skills will be considered)
• experience with taxonomic keys, especially experience with keys related to aquatic insect identification
• experience with microphotography, specifically photographing small insects using a dissecting microscope
