Drs. Maya Groner and Sophie St-Hilaire, with the Atlantic Veterinary College, and Dr. Pedro Quijon, with the UPEI Biology department are seeking to hire a summer student to help with research projects in coastal aquatic ecology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The student will assist with several field projects related to the effects of invasive green crabs on coastal populations of shellfish and eelgrass in PEI. 
• Outdoor field work (on the water) and laboratory work will be required. 
• The student needs to be comfortable snorkeling and wading in tidal areas and be able to work at odd hours (based on tide schedule) for field collection. 
• Lab work will include microscopy and measurements of eelgrass, oysters and green crabs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Students in biology preferred
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong oral communication skills
• Strong digital literacy skills
• Ability to do field work in coastal habitats
• preference will be given to students who took Field coastal ecology, Bio-327
