35 hours per week

Salary: 
$10.40 per hour (vacation pay included) (grant funded)
Term: 

preference would be for May 14, 2012 to August 24, 2012 (15 weeks)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Laboratory processing of aquatic insect samples, including sorting insects from stream debris using a dissecting microscope, basic identification of aquatic insects into major taxonomic groups, slide mounting specimens for identification, databasing information on species identifications and ecology, and other general lab duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• at least third year biology, with courses in animal diversity and ecology
• good microscope skills (Preference is for experience in using fine forceps and a dissection microscope, microdissection of tiny invertebrates, and slide mounting small invertebrates; however, a combination of training or experience that demonstrates aptitude for these skills will be considered)
• experience with taxonomic keys, especially experience with keys related to aquatic insect identification
• experience with Excel spreadsheets
