The International Student Employer Liaison Officer will be under the supervision of the Office of Skills Development & Learning and will work closely with the UPEI International Relations Office, Holland College International and College de l’Isle. This position will be responsible for maximizing relationships between employers, industry and students to increase opportunities for international students studying on PEI to transition into the Island workforce.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Developing a program that can be utilized within post secondary educational institutions that connects Island employers to international students
• Increasing awareness and developing a communications campaign targeting employers on the value of hiring graduating international students from PEI post secondary institutions
• Connecting international students to meaningful employment pathways resulting in increased retention of skilled graduates and community engagement
• Assisting in the counsel, coaching and mentoring of international students related to their transitions to the PEI workforce
• Collaborating with postsecondary institutions, government departments and community partners to ensure complementarity of services
• Recommending supports to assist students in navigating workforce processes

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, social science or a related diploma
• Demonstrated experience working with postsecondary institutions, and private and public sector businesses in Prince Edward Island
• Experience developing, implementing and completing process evaluations for pilot programming
• Prior experience delivering and promoting services to the general public
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, faculty and external contacts
• Knowledge of federal and provincial policies related to permanent residency pathways for international students
• Knowledge of computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, etc. is essential.
• Ability to work with social media platforms
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines
• A valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle is necessary
• The successful applicants must provide a satisfactory criminal records check prior to beginning employment
• Prior experience working with international students would be an asset
• Bilingualism would be considered an asset
• Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset
