 Commencing September 8, 2014 for 6 weeks (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To participate in research in Human-Computer Interaction through assisting in the design and implementation of a multi-surface environment. A multi-surface environment is an interactive computer system composed of several displays (including tablets, mobile phones, wall and table displays) that work together seamlessly to enable new applications and interactions.
• The developer will work under the direction and in collaboration with a faculty member, and with a team of students at the University of Prince Edward Island and the University of Saskatchewan.
• The developer will work with the research team to formulate and document the basic design for the multi-surface environment.
• The developer will primarily be responsible for implementing, integrating and testing important parts of new technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The successful candidate should have completed at least a BSc. degree in Computer Science and would benefit from some background in psychology.
• The developer must be willing to work independently, to proactively research best practices and alternative approaches, to keep track of their work activities, to present their work to members of the research team, and be able to work well in a team.
• All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, but priority may be given to those with experience in mobile technology and web development. Knowledge or skills of HTML, JavaScript, Node.js, and Linux would be considered assets.
