The Writing Centre is looking for Student Assistants to work up to 10 hours per week during the 2014-2015 school year, with time off during exam periods. Some weekend and evening hours are required. We are interested in students with strong writing skills and a passion for writing, and also students from a range of disciplines, including business and the sciences. Second language experience is an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Writing Centre Student Assistants primarily work one-on-one with undergraduate students to help them become more proficient writers and critical thinkers.
• Assistants are also expected to maintain the Writing Lounge, visit classrooms to promote the Writing Centre, and perform other duties as required.
• Assistants work closely with the Writing Centre Coordinator (to whom they report), and are required to attend regularly scheduled training sessions and staff meetings throughout the year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preference will be given to applicants who have completed/or are in the process of completing English 101 or equivalent writing intensive courses.
