Hours of Work: 

Approximately 10 hours per week throughout the Fall/Winter semesters. The Library is open until 11:00 p.m. Sunday – Thursday; 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shifts will range from 1 – 7 hours. Hours may fluctuate with Library requirements.

$10.40 per hour (vacation pay included)

Academic year 2013-2014 with the possibility of renewal for subsequent terms, based on job performance and employment eligibility.

The Robertson Library requests resumes and cover letters -- addressing the responsibilities and qualifications in this job posting for student positions for the 2013-2014 academic year. This competition will also create a list for possible future openings that will remain in effect until September 30, 2014. Students hired may be renewed for subsequent terms, based on job performance, and employment eligibility. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Successful candidates will learn how an academic library operates through involvement in a wide range of library routines and workflows, including: Circulation Desk duties, interactions with patrons, re-shelving of returned items, responding to routine library-related questions, and other related duties as required.
Demonstrates: an open and willing attitude; punctuality; ability to take direction; ability to perform repetitive work while retaining careful attention to detail; ability to work as part of a team; strong communication and interpersonal skills; physical ability to handle heavy library materials, book carts, etc. and to stand for extended periods of time; and initiative. Experience working with computers is required of all Library student assistants. Experience working in an academic library or related public service experience would be an asset.
