$63,384 to $69,726 per annum (Grant Funded)

The University of Prince Edward Island is looking for the right candidate to take on an exciting new position as “Industrial Research Engineer” in the School of Sustainable Design Engineering. Reporting to the Manager of Industry Research, the successful candidate will work closely with researchers in the Research Centres of Excellence, including: Robotics and Industrial Automation; Bioresources and Food Processing; Sustainable Energy; and Sensors, Optics, and Imaging. The successful candidate will be involved in the installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing, material-handling and testing equipment in the centres. This individual will also provide advice and input in the selection of equipment for the centres.


• Work with research personnel and clients on industry-related projects
• Perform maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of equipment
• Conduct instrumentation installation and data collection for industry-related research projects
• Design and edit 3D models for use in additive manufacturing (e.g., 3D printing)
• Adhere to the safe operation of industrial research equipment


• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent in a relevant engineering field
• Must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Prince Edward Island
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
• Experience with CAD and 3D modelling software (e.g., Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor)
• Experience with instrumentation and controls
• Knowledge of and experience with industrial equipment and operations related to one or more of these areas: bioresources, sustainable energy, advanced manufacturing, robotics and industrial automation, and intelligent sensors and systems in an industrial research and development environment
• Demonstrated creative, communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, coordinate projects and function professionally in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment
• Excellent computer skills
