$11.91 per hour (vacation pay included)

As soon as possible for 5 weeks


• The research developer will create a working prototype of a micro-work system that allows hundreds of workers to perform small tasks in exchange for micro-payments.
• The project will involve identifying a workflow to simplify more complex tasks into smaller pieces that can be accomplished by hundreds of anonymous workers.
• The workflow will be translated into a web application that interfaces with the Crowd Flower platform.
• This project will be based in the Dept. of Computer Science at UPEI under the supervision of Dr. Scott Bateman, and is in collaboration with nGage Inc. (Moncton, NB).


• The successful candidate(s) should have completed at least two years of a Computer Science undergraduate degree. Students must be willing to work independently, to proactively research best practices and alternative approaches, to keep track of their work activities, to present their work to members of the research team, and be able to work well in a team.
• All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, but priority may be given to students with experience in crowdsourcing technology, web development, and/or who have completed CS 206.
• Knowledge or skills of HTML, Javascript, Node.js, and Linux would be considered assets.
