Hours of Work: 

Maximum of 37.5 hours/week (hours flexible within reason, to accommodate previous commitments).

Salary: 
$10.74 per hour (vacation pay included)
Term: 

Mid May until approximately the end of June 2012 (appointment may end slightly earlier due to budgetary constraints).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful applicant will undertake the extraction of steroid metabolite from normal cat faecal samples while following laboratory best practices. This work forms part of a study monitoring physiological signs of stress in the domestic cat by extracting and analysing cortisol metabolites from faecal samples. The task will be repetitive and requires attention to detail. The student will receive training followed by supervision. The student will then be required to work independently to complete the task.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Background in science
• Experience working in a laboratory
• The ability to work independently
• Good organisational skills
• Preference will be given to a student who has one or more of the following;
    o Experience using pipettes, centrifuge, water bath, and handvortex
    o Experience preparing buffers
    o Experience in hormone extraction
