The Tourism Research Centre (TRC), housed in the School of Business Administration on the UPEI campus, is an independent body providing timely, accurate and professional research on the tourism industry. Throughout the fall/winter 2012, the TRC requires vibrant individuals who will, under the supervision of the Research Manager, serve as Research Assistants.
The Research Assistants will be primarily involved in field work distributing and collecting surveys onsite at various festivals and events across PEI. The schedule is not consistent from week to week, but you will be required to work some weekends and evenings throughout September. From mid-September to December, shifts will be available during weekdays, early evenings and weekends, typically in the Charlottetown area. The successful candidates must be extremely comfortable approaching strangers, reliable, and have strong verbal communication skills. Conversational French would be an asset. The employee(s) will be expected to provide his or her own transportation although car pooling opportunities will be available. You will be paid for driving time. If you are driving for a particular shift, you will be paid mileage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Field work collecting data/circulating surveys
• Administrative duties as required, including data entry
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Comfortable working with the public and approaching strangers
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Communication skills
• Conversational French would be an asset
