15 hours per week

$13.22 per hour (vacation pay included)

As soon as possible until August 29, 2014


• assist with a research project on poultry units in Atlantic Canada
• the student would be responsible for logistical operations involving the transport of personnel and equipment to poultry units
• valid driver's license is essential
• the hours of operation will mostly be during the evening and night e.g. from 7pm to 4am
• the timing of the hours of employment and the days of employment will be variable and will depend on scheduling of commercial operations
• the work will require the student to follow strict biosafety and biosecurity protocols
• the student will be required to wear protective clothing, including a face mask
• the student will be required to work in difficult circumstances that require fitness, alertness and an awareness of potential safety issues
• the student will be required to assist with behavioural observations and sample collection
• the student will be required to undertake relevant training
• the student will also assist with preparation of equipment, cleaning and disinfection of equipment, data storage, digital entry of information and some basic laboratory work may be required

• Strong organizational skills
• Reliable, flexible and available at short notice for variable working patterns
• Good driving history and valid clean driver’s licence
• Fitness and awareness of potential safety issues
• Ability to undertake work in difficult circumstances
• Ability to undertake work at night


• Preference will be given to a DVM or Biology student
