Up to 20 hours per week, on Fridays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Teaching labs occur on Monday afternoons.

Salary: 
$24.54 per hour as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)

The Biology Department seeks an individual to be responsible for coordinating the laboratory for the “Microbiology for Nursing Students” course.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will set-up the laboratory, including culturing of organisms, distribution of equipment, and clean-up after the laboratory is complete. He/she will also be in the laboratory with the students to assist the course instructor. The candidate must be able to work with the Chief Technician in Biology to determine what materials need to be ordered in advance of labs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications include prior experience teaching microbiology laboratories with particular emphasis on aseptic techniques, familiarity with making microbiological media and with culturing of microorganisms, and proper clean-up techniques. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field is required.
