The Department of Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Sessional Lecturer during the forthcoming academic year (2016-2017), subject to final budgetary approval. 

Fall 2016

BIO 462 Watershed Ecology
The focus of this course is the study of watersheds, with emphasis on those found on Prince Edward Island.  Lectures focus on the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of streams and their surrounding riparian zones, and labs will include practical application of stream sampling methods.

Classes: Tuesday-Thursday, 8:30 -9:45 a.m.; Lab: Thursday 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Winter 2017

Bio 442M – Medical Biology & Biochemistry
This course will serve to extend the principles of Biochemistry taught by the Department of Chemistry (Chemistry 353). Specifically, topics will include key metabolic pathways in humans; gene regulation; molecular biology, and basic pharmacology. Focus is given to the relevance of biochemistry in the study of medical biology. Various human diseases that are related to biochemical pathway alterations will be discussed in a case-study format.

Classes: Tues-Thursday 5:00 – 6:15 p.m.

Applicants must hold a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a field of science/biology related to the respective course content.  Documented experience teaching these courses would be a definite asset.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster, and to those with experience in teaching university level courses.
