The Centre for Health and Biotech Management Research (CHBMR) is seeking a student to assist the CHBMR Project Officer in coordination of health-related research activities. A portion of the funding for this position is provided by the Canadian Network for Observational Drug Effect Studies (CNODES), part of the Drug Safety and Effectiveness (DSEN) initiative. CNODES aims to rapidly answer questions about drug safety and effectiveness using population-based studies.
 
In addition, the student will also work on a project aimed at improving Mental Health and Addiction treatment on PEI and across other Provinces by assisting with implementing pilot trials of the Computer-Based Training for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT4CBT) program and assisting with dissemination of the preliminary results. The overall goal of this project is to test and implement the proven addictions treatment program, CBT4CBT, in Canada by first piloting the program through Randomized Clinical Trials (RCT) in several settings across PEI.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assisting with writing applications for obtaining data access.
• Assisting in ethics applications.
• Performing literature reviews and summarize secondary information.
• Preparing briefing notes, presentation and reports for government and academic collaborators.
• Assisting with project management, implementation and training of the CBT4CBT program.
• Reporting and communicating on progress made.
• Assisting with writing and editing funding applications.
• Assisting the Project Officer with other duties of the CHBMR.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong research skills.
• Strong understanding of the scientific process.
• Knowledge and/or experience with the ethics review process.
• Experience in research-related activities and/or projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in working effectively in research team environments.
• Experience with health research, mental health and/or addictions research would be an asset.
