Some weekend and evening hours are required. We are interested in students with strong writing skills and a passion for writing, and also students from a range of disciplines, including business and the sciences. Second language experience is an asset.
Writing Centre Tutors primarily work one-on-one with undergraduate students to help them become more proficient writers and critical thinkers. Tutors are also expected to maintain the Writing Lounge, visit classrooms to promote the Writing Centre, and perform other duties as required. Tutors work closely with the Writing Centre Coordinator (to whom they report), and are required to attend regularly scheduled training sessions and staff meetings throughout the year.
Preference will be given to second and third-year students. Applicants must have completed English 101 or equivalent writing intensive courses, supply a reference from a professor familiar with the applicant's writing, and provide a writing sample.
