RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources and the Associate Vice-President, Human Resources and Legal, the Employee Benefits Officer administers the day-to-day activities associated with the employee benefits and pension plans; oversees and maintains the pension, retiree, and attendance management components of the HRIS system databases; supports other areas of the Human Resources function and performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires knowledge and experience working in a highly confidential environment with specific experience in the administration of pension and benefit programs, including leave, attendance and disability management. The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge and experience with payroll, labour relations, application and interpretation of collective agreements as well as specific knowledge of relevant government legislation and regulations.

The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.  Strong computer and mathematical skills, with specific experience using spreadsheet, database software and Human Resources Information Systems, is also required.

An Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline and/or a three year diploma in Human Resources Management with a minimum of two years related HR experience in employee pension, payroll, benefits and/or disability management is required.  CHRP or equivalent professional HR designation would be a definite assets.
