$45,457 - $50,007 per annum, prorated to term as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)

August 2012 - August 2013 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.) (Subject to budget approval)

The Comparative Orthopedic Research Laboratory (CORL) seeks applications from qualified individuals for a full-time term Animal Health Technician position. This is a grant funded position investigating cell-based therapies for the promotion of musculoskeletal tissue healing in veterinary regenerative medicine. The principal investigator is Dr Trina Bailey.
• animal care
• anesthesia monitoring
• diagnostic testing
• client communication
• data entry of patient demographics and sample test results
• harvesting blood and urine from animals enrolled in the project
• use of force plate and walkways systems for data analysis
• operation of MRI to obtain data for clinical trials
• Animal Health Technician designation from a recognized facility/program
• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) designation would be an asset
• relevant years of related veterinary technician experience preferably in both research and clinical settings
• demonstrated organizational, computer and communication skills
• experience with anesthesia, surgical equipment (anthroscopy) and operating room management
• experience with radiology and advanced imaging would be an asset
• experience with fore plate trials would be an asset
• ability to work with minimal supervision
• ability to troubleshoot technical issues is desirable
