Applications are invited for the student research assistant position (Up to 2 openings) in Acadian Studies with Dr. Carlo Lavoie.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The student who is hired will:
• Compile archival searches for primary documents
• Communicate with archivists about document holdings
• Order material on inter-library loan
• Photocopy, organize, and file primary and secondary sources on immigration in French to PEI.
• He or she will be trained to interpret, transcribe and photocopy texts (as necessary)
• Find, record and in some cases evaluate, specific information located in documents

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Applicants should be in their second, third or fourth year of a Bachelors degree with native French language skills.
• Have a demonstrated strength in French written and oral communication
• A good working knowledge of methods, analysis and research in Acadian Studies
• Have first-hand experience with the research and basic analysis of primary sources
• Have good basic computer processing skills
