37.5 hours per week (7:30 pm to 7:00 am, 11.5 hr/shift)

Salary: 
$49,231 to $54,164 per annum as per CUPE 1870

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital requires an Animal Health Technician to work nights primarily in the Small Animal Intensive Care Unit (ICU).  This position provides technical support in the SA ICU rotating on a 3 nights on / 3 nights off basis and may also have Large Animal responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completing treatment orders for patients
  • Monitoring progression of ICU patients
  • Monitoring, advising, and assisting veterinary students working after hours in the Small Animal ICU or doing treatments in the Large Animal Hospital
  • Providing technical support to the Large Animal Hospital when required
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the ICU
  • Maintaining supplies and ensuring proper equipment maintenance within ICU
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a graduate of an Animal Health Technician program from a recognized facility
  • RVT designation would be preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must have current experience with small animals and some experience with large animals in a veterinary setting
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be able to work as part of a team, but must also be able to work independently as required
