May 2, 2017 – August 18, 2017 (Minimum 12 weeks to a maximum of 16 weeks during this period)

Dr. James Polson is seeking two undergraduate research assistants to work on projects using computer simulation methods to study the physical properties of polymer systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Each student will write a Monte Carlo simulation program, which will be used to perform calculations to investigate the dynamics and conformational behavior of polymers in confined and crowded environments.  The simulations will run on a multi-node computer cluster
• The student will also analyze the resulting data and compare the results with theoretical predictions

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Each successful candidate will have completed his/her second year of study in an undergraduate physics program at a minimum.
• He/she should also have some experience with computer programming
