$45,434 to $49,995 as per CUPE 1870

Diagnostic Services invites applications to provide technical assistance and related laboratory services in the Post Mortem Room. This position will work in the Postmortem Laboratory and assist pathologists with necropsy examinations in a wide variety of animal species.


• accept carcasses from clients and take case histories,
• dissection of a large variety of animal species, appropriately handling and disposing of tissues and carcasses, collection and fixation of tissue specimens for teaching purposes,
• assist in student laboratory and rotation preparation,
• general cleaning and maintenance of the laboratory and equipment (including, but not limited to, a large industrial incinerator, knives, hand saws, and a vertical band saw). 
• assist with various research projects as required. 
• other duties as required


• Animal Health Technologist Degree or equivalent
• Experience working with animals and animal carcasses would be an asset.
• Knowledge of animal anatomy would be an asset.
• Experience working in an abattoir and/or with farm animals (cattle, horses,             swine, etc) would also be an asset.
