$43,480 to $47,849 per annum as per CUPE 1870

The University of Prince Edward Island is seeking applications from qualified individuals to provide timely and efficient office related support services in Data Control, and other sections as required, within Financial Services.  This position will report to the Manager of Financial Services.


The Banking / Data Control Clerk will be responsible for the following:
• Monthly bank reconciliation and month end closing procedures
• Balancing the general ledger and sub ledgers
• Processing weekly cheque runs, international wire payments, payroll transmission, AP Link, Pay Pal accounts
• Monitoring cash flow and US exchange rates
• Posting of cash sheets, journal entries, internal requisitions, banking payments, account openings, budget changes, and a variety of other financial transactions
• Ensuring the signing authority and access data base are updated as required
• Provide support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders regarding the university’s financial system
• Ensuring internal control processes are followed
• Other duties include year-end reconciliations, filing and responding to departmental queries
• Variety of other banking, reconciliation and data control duties as required; may be required to perform duties in other sections of the Accounting Office
• Other duties as assigned


We are seeking an individual with Grade 12 graduation, and a minimum of a two-year post-secondary program in accounting related courses, and related work experience.  The incumbent will have a solid understanding of accounting procedures and functions and demonstrate experience and proficiency in the following areas:

• Knowledge of and experience performing bank reconciliations
• Solid understanding of accounting procedures and functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and internal controls
• Excellent analytical skills; accuracy; detailed knowledge and experience working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets and database query programs
• Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team while meeting regular deadlines
• Excellent professional, interpersonal and communication skills, and work well under pressure
