$18.60 per hour, prorated to time and term as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review) (grant funded)

September 1, 2012 - September 1, 2013 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.) This position is pending final funding approval.

This employee will provide a wide variety of administrative support services to an international development project led by the Institute of Island Studies and the Faculty of Education. This is a fast-paced, multitasking position involving the facilitation and coordination of many team members drawn from UPEI staff and faculty, and the wider community of PEI, NB and NS. Therefore, the person in this position must be very friendly, adaptable, flexible and must possess a high degree of initiative.
This position requires a person with the ability to handle a wide range of inquiries, to liaise with faculty, staff, community volunteers, project consultants and overseas project staff; to prepare a variety of correspondence and minutes from various meetings,; to maintain email distribution lists; to schedule appointments and meetings; to handle confidential information in a responsible manner; to maintain project files, to assist with preparation of various project-related documents and reports, to liaise with the UPEI Internationalization Office, Accounting and other departments on campus, to process internal and external requisitions, and to maintain a project website. Perform other related duties as required.

The candidate should have administrative and/or secretarial training and at least one (1) year related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience and use of computers with various software programs such as Windows, Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Access, Drupal, HTML, and Internet (must be able to search for information as required, and provide support for internet-based conferencing between PEI and Chile). The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, excellent written English, and be able to function as a member of a team in engaged in a challenging and complex international development project. Proficiency in Spanish language is desirable, or at minimum a willingness to acquire basic capacity in Spanish. Previous experience meeting the reporting requirements of CIDA, and familiarity with Results Based Management and Outcome Mapping are highly desirable
