Dr. Gordon MacDonald, School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, is looking for a student assistant to work on teaching and research projects. The research project will involve computer search for fast matrix multiplication algorithms, and the teaching project will involve development of an interactive Calculus e-text.


• The Research Assistant will be responsible for providing programming and software development support for: implementing algorithms for visualizing and searching for fast matrix multiplication algorithms, and developing/coding interactive figures for inclusion in the Calculus e-text.


• The successful candidate will have completed at least three years of a Computer Science Major program
•  Knowledge of Linear Algebra and Calculus, and excellent coding skills are essential, and students should have (at a minimum) completed UPEI’s Math 191 (or 151), Math 192 (or 152), Math 261, CS 151, CS 152, CS 261, CS 262 and CS 435 (or their equivalents)
• Students must include their grades in these courses with their applications, and by applying, give consent for the Associate Dean of School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences to verify these grades through UPEI's online course management system

Priority is given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
