$11.70 per hour (vacation pay included)

May 1 until August 31, 2017 (term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements

The University of Prince Edward Island is seeking Student Assistant(s) to help provide accounting and clerical support for the Financial Services office.  Under the supervision of the Manager of Financial Services, the student will work on a combination of day to day assignments and build valuable skills such as problem solving, communications, organization, and operational efficiency.  


• Working with computerized financial information systems, data entry
• Data entry and validation including preparation of journal entries and claims
• Assisting in template development and document tracking
• Organizing, filing and scanning claims, tax forms, invoices, etc.
• Asset management including inventory and asset tagging
• Receiving, opening, sorting and delivery of mail
• Other duties as required by Financial Service’s supervisors


• Strong organization, interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and previous office experience would be an asset
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
