The Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking applications for a temporary student research assistant position.  The position is required to work under the direction of Dr. Sunny Hartwig to help research and develop a veterinary physiology syllabus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will perform an exhaustive literature search to current
advances in our understanding of comparative mammalian physiology, and will help Dr. Hartwig to design a new series of evidence-based physiology lectures incorporating basic science and clinical studies in the PowerPoint format.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be currently enrolled in the DVM program at AVC
• Completion of VBS122 with a minimum A average is required (84 or higher)
• Must have excellent computer proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Must demonstrate excellence in interpreting and translating scientific literature, and must have demonstrated expertise in using scientific search engines (E.g. Pubmed)
• Prior tutoring experience, preferably in VBS122 is a requirement and must be formally documented
• Very strong academic record (Cumulative GPA 4.0 or higher)
• A very strong work ethic, very strong focus, and independence
• Strong references demonstrating these skills are required

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
