$36,408 - $40,060 per annum, prorated to time as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)

The Department of Pathology and Microbiology is seeking applications from qualified individuals for a permanent part-time (50%) Administrative Assistant. This person will provide secretarial and administrative support services to the Department.
The successful applicant will report directly to the Department Chair, and will provide general secretarial support within the department, including telephone/reception, inquiries, typing, maintaining filing systems and scheduling meetings/workshops. The work involves a wide variety of multiple tasking with deadlines and confidentiality.

Grade 12 graduate plus successful completion of a recognized secondary program in a related area is required; relevant years of experience required; a working knowledge and experience in computers and common office software programs i.e., WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Excel, Quattro Pro., Power Point; electronic scheduler (e.g., doodle, GroupWise, etc). Knowledge with Photoshop, HTML, and software for creating and maintaining web sites is required as is a demonstrated ability to work with others while meeting regular deadlines; demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in handling multiple tasks amid changing priorities. Ability to work with minimum supervision. The ability to work as an effective member of a team is a definite asset. Excellent writing (grammatical, typographical, and ability to improve and edit documents) and familiarity with the university environment and procedures, and possession of an undergraduate degree would be useful assets.
