The Department of Religious Studies at The University of Prince Edward Island announces a sessional opening for the following course in the 2019-20 academic year. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.

Winter 2020

RS 2510 (Japanese Religion and Culture)
This course is an introduction to Japanese religion and culture. It examines the role of the "New Religions" as well as the transformation of the older traditions (Shinto, Buddhism, Confucianism) in Japanese society. The course also explores the impact of Western thought and modern developments on traditional Japanese religion and the balance between tradition and modernity in Japan.

Three hours a week / 3 hours credit

The current time slot is Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30-3:45, but applications will also be considered from candidates who propose to teach this as an online course.

Applicants with a Ph.D or equivalent will be given priority, but those with a M.A. or equivalent are invited to apply.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
