Dr. James Polson is looking for one student to help carry out a computer simulation study of polymer translocation dynamics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The student will modify an existing molecular dynamics simulation program which will be used to study the dynamics of polymer translocation through a nanopore. The program will be used in simulations that will be run on a multi-node beowulf computer cluster. The student will also analyze the resulting data and compare the results with theoretical predications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have completed his/her third year of study in an undergraduate physics program. He/she should also have excellent programming skills, be familiar with the Linux operating system, and have experience with molecular dynamics simulation methodology.
