The Asian Studies Programme at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a Sessional Instructor for the Fall Semester 2017 (Sept.–Dec.).  We are seeking a qualified  language instructor to teach the following credit course in Asian Studies.  This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

AST 101J: Introduction  to Japanese I (TTh 2:30–3:45)
This course is intended for students with no proficiency in Japanese at all. It provides an introduction to the modern Japanese language, through the study of basic pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.  It includes numerous oral drills, frequent written exercises, short oral presentations, and simple readings.  Cross-listed with Modern Languages 101J.

Successful applicants should have relevant university degrees and experience in teaching Japanese as a second or foreign language at an academic college level. Native fluency in Japanese speaking, reading and writing is required. 

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
