The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications from qualified
sessional instructors to teach the following course in the Fall Semester 2016. This course is subject to budgetary approval.

Sociology/Anthropology 359 Magic, Religion, and Witchcraft
The course provides a comparative study of magic, witchcraft, and religion in Western and non-Western contexts. Topics include symbolic systems and ritual, theoretical approaches to the study of religious phenomena, and the globalization of certain religious movements. Classic and contemporary ethnographies from anthropology and sociology will figure prominently.

Required qualifications are a MA or PhD in Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field, teaching experience, and a background in the various socio-cultural approaches to religious phenomena and belief systems.

Members of the Sessional Roster of the academic unit will be given priority.
