 The Kerr Lab is looking to hire a Summer Research Assistant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be expected to carry out a research project involving the purification of novel marine microbes. Samples will include sediment and will be processed to lead to pure fungal cultures. The successful student will be responsible for working both independently and in a group environment and conducting microbiology research using aseptic techniques. Regular reporting of data to senior members of the lab is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Given the responsibilities, preference will be given to students in a biology or related program and/or previous experience in the area of responsibility. Expertise in handling of microbes using aseptic techniques is required as is previous experience in fungal isolation. Knowledge of data processing software will be an asset.
