The Vice President Administration and Finance at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for the position of Director of the Health and Wellness Centre.

As an integral member of the management team, the Director of the Health and Wellness Centre is responsible for overall leadership, strategic direction and management for the departments and services within this Health and Wellness grouping.  The Director will develop and introduce an inter-professional approach to health and well-being that is innovative and collaborative. The Director will be a key leader in the University’s efforts to advance accessibility and student/employee health and wellbeing, and eliminate barriers to academic success, within the context of the University of Prince Edward Island

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a team of Physicians, Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse and Administrative Assistant to ensure fiscal, strategic, policy, human resources and communication/relationship management
• Create a collaborative approach that ensures all units work within a model committed to the development of the whole person, while maintaining the privacy of medical records
• Innovate and motivate employees in the Health and Wellness Centre to provide the best possible student/employee experience and ensure all programs and services are developed from best practices based on research
• Direct and oversee all administrative functions in the unit, including preparation and monitoring of budgets
• Set policy throughout the unit and advise the Vice President Administration & Finance on University-wide policy matters involving health and wellness, accessibility and high risk matters
• Represent Health and Wellness Centre on University committees and meetings
• Ensure that the Health & Wellness Centre is in full compliance of appropriate legislation
• Provide leadership, advice, and coordinate consultation on issues of University-wide health promotion and preventative health 
• Ensure the Health and Wellness Centre is prepared to deal effectively with student/employee emergencies ranging from individuals in crisis to major province wide health emergencies
• Facilitate communication and coordination amongst departments throughout the University to improve the delivery of service to students and employees
• Manage the clinic through definition of duties and responsibilities and ensure work tasks are completed on schedule and standards and policies are followed by staff
• Conduct annual performance reviews with employees and monitor achievement of performance goals
• Develop plans and work processes for department projects based on understanding of project requirements and timelines
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree preferred in Health Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a health unit in either the private or public sector.  Experience in a university or college setting a strong asset
• Proven ability to develop, monitor and evaluate organizational plans. Experience planning and managing operating budgets
• Crisis intervention and emergency response experience, including the ability to make complex decisions under extreme pressure
• Experience in facilitation and negotiation of consultative decision-making processes, including those with clients, partners and other constituent groups
• Demonstrated judgement, analysis and decision-making skills in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential matters
• Proven organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities with superior attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and report-writing are necessary • 
• Ability to determine priorities, respond effectively to changes, meet deadlines and exercise tact and discretion
• Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong analytical, organizational, customer service, communication, interpersonal and administrative skills
• Proven ability to scope, plan and execute project-based initiatives including research and analysis. Strong leadership skills with emphasis on decision-making, problem solving and the ability to foster a motivating and respectful environment
