The Faculty of Science is seeking a Science Educator to support the Faculty of Science Development and Enhancement of Writing (D E W) initiative.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• aiding faculty in introducing or streamlining written assignments in all levels of university science courses
• working in collaboration with faculty members to provide feedback for written assignments, particularly in writing intensive courses and co-op programs
• developing content for a suite of online resources for writing intensive courses in science for professors as well as undergraduate and graduate students (and to work with staff at the Webster Centre to generate online assignments and exercises and self-tests, as well as instructor-specific resources)
• providing one-on-one consultation services to graduate and undergraduate students who need discipline-specific writing support in Biology (life and environmental sciences), Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Foods and Nutrition, Kinesiology, Physics, and Mathematics.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• minimum qualification: B.Ed with background in Science (B.Sc preferred)
• significant experience in science-based writing and/or editing, for example, scientific papers and reports, and familiarity with CSE (Council of Science Editors) formatting
• experience in working with students at a variety of levels, with preference for experience at the university level in mentoring writing and grading written material
• experience in developing curriculum and web-based materials would be an asset.
