The Department of Pathology and Microbiology, Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a research student position in cancer pathobiology.


The student will assist with a Zoetis - funded research project with an emphasis on immunohistochemistry of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Other responsibilities will include preparing solutions and buffers and general laboratory maintenance, but may also include cell culture and RT-PCR as the project develops. The student will participate in the AVC Summer Research and Leadership Program and will present a research poster.


The successful applicant should possess strong communication and organizational skills, be highly motivated and be able to work independently. Minimum qualification is successful completion of first year in a DVM program, and be familiar with basic laboratory skills and practices. Experience with immunohistochemistry, cell culture and molecular techniques, as well as an interest in cancer research and pathology, are desirable.
