The department of IT Systems & Services is seeking a Network Administrator Team Lead for our Servers and Services team.  This individual will work closely with others in the team and the department to deliver technical support and leadership to the Servers and Services Team, the department and the campus as a whole.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To ensure that existing IT services currently offered to the campus are operational and kept current.  This involves the setup and maintenance of enterprise scaled technology distributed within two data centers on campus. As well, to trial and adopt appropriate new technologies to enhance or expand services to the campus community.

• Procure, install and maintain LAN, WAN, Servers, data storage, internetworking and security infrastructure
• Manage authentication and authorization for all IT services
• Introduce and operationalize new technologies, service delivery models and best practices
• In conjunction with the Operations Manager, develop new IT initiatives into pilot/test instances
• Evaluate current and new processes for improvements in security, sustainability and efficiency
• Lead team members in new IT related projects for the campus
• Liaison with peers from other educational institutions, government and private industry
• Work with departments/faculties to assist them in achieving their goals by better utilizing/applying appropriate technology
• Assisting with internal ITSS projects
• Keep current in new and evolving technologies

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two-year community college diploma in IT Network Administration or a bachelor’s degree in an IT related field
• Five years’ work experience in a senior Network Administrator’s role, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience is required 
• A strong commitment to excellent client service is a fundamental requirement for this position
• Very strong communication skills, both oral and written
• The ideal candidate must be a self-starter with a keen interest to learn and take on new things

In-depth knowledge in the following areas is also required:

• Current Microsoft Windows Server and Linux Server distributions
• Local area network equipment including routers, switches, wireless access points
• Microsoft Active Directory
• TCP/IP protocols
• LDAP services
• E-Mail services
• Spam filtering
• AV services including video and web conferencing
• Virtual environments - servers, desktop, infrastructure
• Cloud hosted services such as Office 365, Google Apps
• Cisco IOS - routing protocols
• Internetworking design
• Scripting with Java, XML etc.
• Troubleshooting Enterprise architecture
• Industry certifications considered as assets are: CISSP, CCNP, MCSE
