$45,434.00 to $49,995.00 per annum, prorated to term as per CUPE 1870

August 1, 2014 to November 30, 2014 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.) 

The Department of Health Management invites applications for a term positions of Aquaculture Technician.


The successful candidate will assist the project manager in field and lab trials related to aquaculture, the fisheries and the aquatic ecosystem.   Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Participation in field and laboratory trials;
• Compilation of field data and managing databases;
• Statistical analysis of field data;
• Composition of scientific reports and manuscripts;
• Collection and preparation of background materials for meetings;
• Ordering and receiving supplies; and
• Other duties as required.


• A two-year laboratory technical program from a recognized facility, with relevant years experience working in a marine environment is the minimum requirement. 
• A BSc would be an asset.
• Excellent communication (written/oral) skills. 
• Excellent time-management skills are required to ensure all activities are completed on schedule.
• Experience with statistical data analysis and scientific writing is an asset.
• Ability to operate powerboats in an aquaculture setting, working with GPS systems, computers and associated software, and SCUBA certification
