 The University of Prince Edward is seeking applications from qualified individuals to provide timely and efficient operations of the Accounts Payable Section within the Accounting Office. This position will report to the Manager of the Accounting Office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In a professional environment, the incumbent will supervise a number of Accounts Payable Clerks; this includes training and guidance of staff, distribution of workloads, and implementation and explanation of University Policies and Procedures. In addition, the incumbent is expected to ensure proper systems and procedures are implemented for the efficient operations of the Accounts Payable section, including ongoing analysis of computer procedures. The incumbent coordinates cheque runs to ensure the timely payment of suppliers (includes reimbursements through travel claims, administration of the telephone system, Professional Development allowance administration and reimbursement of foreign exchange transactions).
The incumbent is expected to have a sound knowledge of accounting procedures including HST/GST/PST provisions and is expected to perform data entry and data edit; reconcile external/internal documentation on daily/weekly/monthly basis; prepare and adjust journal entries; distribute cheques and other documentation; perform necessary year end procedures including report preparation; deal with inquiries from suppliers, campus staff and others both verbally and in writing and perform other related duties as may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A two year accounting program and three years related work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience will be considered.
• It is expected the incumbent perform a wide range of analysis on programs and accounts as required.
• Incumbent must work well under pressure and efficiently manage time to meet given deadlines.
• Employees at this level are required to work with limited supervision and are expected to have a sound knowledge of departmental and University regulations and policies.
