The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), is seeking a sessional instructor(s) to assist in delivery of VPM 2010 Veterinary Bacteriology and Mycology course to second year DVM students. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.

VPM 2010 Veterinary Bacteriology and Mycology

This course is a four-credit core course taught to second year DVM students (approximate class size of 67) during the Fall semester. The course consists of 3 50-minute didactic lectures and 2 two-hour lab sessions every week. Applications to teach part of the course will also be considered. The labs are co-delivered with a Clinical Bacteriologist and a bacteriology technologist. The sessional instructor(s) will be required to deliver approximately 50% of the course which would run from late October until the end of the semester. Details on the curricular content of this component of the course are available from the Department Chair. Student evaluations include quizzes, one midterm, a laboratory exam, and a final exam.

Qualifications:

Ideally, the candidate will hold the following credentials:
• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Advanced training or experience in veterinary bacteriology/mycology.
• Board certification with American College of Veterinary Microbiologists (ACVM).

Priority will be given to members of the UPEI Sessional Roster for the Department of Pathology & Microbiology.

Remuneration will be as specified in the Faculty Association Collective Agreement.

The AVC is located on the campus of UPEI in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI).
