$11.51 per hour (includes vacation pay)

Student duties for this project will include: contacting private, educational and government agencies for health database information, assisting with project management, reporting, communications, administration and presentation. The Research Assistant will contribute to improving public health by assisting with a project that will lead to the analysis of a breast screening program in an attempt to determine why breast cancer mortality rates are very high in PEI. In addition, the student will help in writing a report and preparing a presentation on PEI’s bioscience survey.


The successful applicant must:
• Have extremely strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as student will be responsible for contacting partners to gather database information;
• Have strong writing skills;
• Be organized, dependable, self-motivated, and pay attention to detail;
• Learn quickly, think analytically and have excellent teamwork skills; and
• Be flexible, creative, and results-oriented.
• Computer skills, including knowledge of MS Suite programs and database creation, are required.
• Knowledge of research methods would be an asset.
