ADS Level 6 - Scientific Editor - Department of Health Management - Atlantic Veterinary College (Grant Funded)
June 1, 2018 – March 31, 2019 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)
The Canadian Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in aquatic epidemiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College is seeking to hire a science editor to support projects associated with the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To provide one-on-one writing support to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty associated with the CERC program or CERC projects
• To proofread manuscripts by graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty associated with the CERC program
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Candidate will have a Bachelor of Arts (English major), or a Degree/Diploma in Journalism, or a Bachelor of Science with an extensive record of peer-reviewed publications, or equivalent related experience
• Significant experience in science-based writing and/or editing, for example, scientific papers and reports, and familiarity with CSE (Council of Science Editors) formatting
• Experience in working with students at a variety of levels, with preference for experience at the university level in mentoring writing
• Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to meet the editing needs of the week
• Flexibility in hours required each week based on editing needs from the group
