37.5 hours per week

$13.22 per hour (vacation pay included)

May 4, 2015 to August 21, 2015 (16 weeks)

Dr. Gordon MacDonald, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, is looking for a student research assistant to work on a research project with the goal of developing quantum algorithms for linear algebra.


The Student Research Assistant will learn the mathematical basis of quantum
computing, study existing quantum algorithms and work as part of a
team to design new quantum algorithms for carrying out many linear
algebra computations.


The successful candidate must have:
• Strong ability in both Linear Algebra and Computer Programming.
• Completed UPEI's Math 261 and CS 151 and CS 152 (or equivalents).
Students must include their grades in these courses with their applications, and by applying, give consent for the Chair of the Department of Mathematics
and Statistics to verify these grades through UPEI's online course
management system.

Priority to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
