IT Systems & Services is searching for a motivated and creative individual to join our department’s programming and support team.
The team’s work encompasses a wide range of activities focused on developing, maintaining, and supporting UPEI’s integrated hospital and laboratory database applications. This is an opportunity to experience all aspects of systems development, including design, Java programming, documentation, maintenance, and support. The duties are varied and multifaceted, and require a wide variety of skills and abilities. The number and complexity of our database projects continues to grow, and additional personnel are required immediately so these expanding needs can be met.
● A University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and three years' experience in object oriented software design and development, problem analysis, and application support, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
● experience programming in Java/J2EE/J2SE, JSF, JDBC, JPA, and GUI development using an IDE such as NetBeans
● experience with relational database management systems and normalized design skills used in typical business support systems (Ingres preferred)
● experience developing Java web-based applications
● well developed problem solving skills
● the ability to work independently and in a team environment
● strong documentation skills
● an aptitude for systems design
● experience with Linux or UNIX would also be an asset
