 The Department of Student Affairs and University 100 Program requires an Experiential Learning Coordinator to assist with developing and advancing community-based service learning projects and Learning Communities within the UPEI 103 suite of courses. The coordinator will be responsible for the development of co-curricular community service learning activities and initiatives within the Department of Student Affairs. The Experiential Learning Coordinator will report to the Manager of the Department of Student Affairs and the Coordinator of the University 100 Program.
• Collaborate with campus and off-campus partners to provide service learning, volunteer and employment related opportunities for students
• Assist faculty with evaluating service learning projects embedded in their course
• Develop and maintain a service learning, learning community, volunteer and employment database
• Establish and maintain networks with professional associations and community organizations that support experiential learning, and volunteering as it relates to career development
• Develop and implement strategies to engage students in the career and leadership development process, as it relates to experiential education
• Promote and market experiential learning opportunities and benefits available to students
• Develop materials (web and print) to promote experiential learning opportunities embedded in the UPEI 101, 102, 103 suite of courses
• Coordinate Service Learning Student Showcase
• Support Faculty, Staff, and Students in developing and delivering experiential learning programs
• Work collaboratively with Faculty to write learning objectives and develop (curricular and co-curricular) experiential learning opportunities for FYE linked courses
• Collaborate with Advancement Services to develop, implement, and evaluate “SHARE” (students hearing about real experiences) program events and activities. The SHARE program connects UPEI students with UPEI alumni to discuss careers.
• Act as a liaison between the Department of Student Affairs and University 100 to develop experiential education learning opportunities.
• Coordinate Learning Communities for FYE Faculty who are interested in linking their courses with campus and off-campus partners to provide service learning, volunteer and employment related opportunities for students
• Develop and maintain a service learning, learning community, volunteer, and employment database
• Bachelor of Education;
• A Masters degree in Adult Education or Educational Leadership;
• Deep understanding of student development theory, particularly experiential and service learning theory and pedagogy
• Experience in program design and delivery
• Experience using e-portfolios
• Experience facilitating group and individual experiential learning opportunities
• Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communications skills
• Ability to interact effectively with a large number and variety of stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and off-campus community members.
