Salary: 
$40,890 to $44,995 per annum as per CUPE 1870

The Robertson Library is seeking applications for a qualified individual to work under the general direction of the Circulation and Cataloguing Services Librarian, providing services to students, staff, and faculty of the University and the general public. That person will be expected to demonstrate judgement, flexibility, and initiative.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Main responsibilities include:
• circulating library resources, laptops, etc.
• responding to user circulation needs and requests
• taking the lead in organizing reserve material and liaising with Faculty
• liaising with the University's Accounting Office to align cash processes, including reconciling cash totals and preparing deposits
• helping train and supervise Circulation student assistants (& other Library staff for Desk shifts)
• circulating library resources, laptops, etc.
• coordinating and managing locker rentals
• providing user assistance working at the Information Desk

Successful candidates will implement library policies and directions set by the Library, contribute to the Library’s overall work environment and, work in cooperation with the overall library staff. Responsibilities will shift and alter as Library needs and demands change.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• a Library Technician Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience
• Bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution would be an asset
• at least two years experience in an automated library environment
• an in-depth knowledge of bibliographic databases and strong searching skills
• the ability to work well independently
• strong commitment to enhancing service through teamwork and responsiveness to clients
• strong technology skills plus an open attitude towards new technology
• effective writing skills and proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing programs
• a flexible approach, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively respond to issues
• a physical component and will include some bending/lifting, and shelving of heavy items
• experience working with the public, handling cash, and detail work is an asset
