POLS 3090-3 - Canadian Defence Policy
While the political stripes of governments may change stripe, Canadian defence policy has remained remarkably consistent since 1945. Why is this so? The aim of this course is to introduce students to the key actors, institutions, alliance constraints and political dynamics of Canadian defence policy-making. Using a thematic approach, this course will explore the major debates and issues in Canadian defence since the end of the Cold War. Attention will be paid to those operational, budgetary, and institutional challenges policy-makers are faced with in their deliberations.
